Hi all, long time lurker first time poster with an unsurprising question. I took the GREs on Friday and while I won't receive my official score report until November(!) according to the score range they gave at the end of the test I did pretty well on the verbal (750-800 range) but atrociously on the math (490-590 range). I am new to this community and, judging by the roll-call below, it seems like a pretty awesome place to get advice. I am at the very beginning stages of applying to graduate school-- the deciding part. I am looking at doctoral programs in English but I am not yet convinced that I am a viable candidate for any decent program.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience (or knows anyone who has) applying to a PhD in English with a "B" on the MA transcript? I had a horrible beginning to the semester and all other grades are perfect, but will this make it hard to get in anywhere?
